After quite a lot of back and forth with logistics and unforeseen conflicts regarding our team shooting Flying Dog, now owned and brewed by FX Matt in Utica, New York, we were finally able to shoot the brewery over 3 days in later June, 2025.
Being one of the oldest national breweries with incredible history, FX Matt, established in 1888, acquired the pioneering beer brand, Flying Dog. The facility is massive to say the least. Beer bottles are flying down the line at warp speeds. The line crew mentioned production units somewhere around 1000 cases and hour. That's some serious beer making. Everything is so well designed into the flow of production - and we shot it all, filming beer production all the way through the process, the brewing, the labels, the shipping!
It was so exciting to see it in full operation and be allowed all the access, to any tigh corner, putting cameras in conveyer belts, opening doors that aren't to be opened, we really had a read carpet so to speak and the footage shows!
Given the sale of Flying Dog, we really were curious as to what Fred Matt of FX Matt would have to say about the acquisition, but more so the brave and bold artwork from legend, Ralph Steadman. What we can share for now is that it was a great interview and we were not surprised.
